Spiritual Journey – Day 11

S:  “Some were being persuaded by the things spoken, but others would not believe … for the heart of this people has become dull, and with their ears they scarcely hear, and they have closed their eyes …” (Acts 28:24-27)

O:  The state of many Jews was that their hearts had become dull — not because of disbelief, but because after usage, they didn’t take time to sharpen their edge! Their hearts had grown “dull” or unable to perceive truth.

A:  I must take the time to sharpen my edge — to keep my heart perceptive to the things of God. I must hone my edge so that when truth is made available, I will be receptive.

We are often poorer because of the opportunities we will have missed.  I don’t want to miss opportunities God has for me. There’s so many exciting things to do! And I can’t wait to get up in the morning to get going — yet, I must take time to sharpen my edge.

“If the axe is dull and he does not sharpen its edge, then he must exert more strength. Wisdom has the advantage of giving success” (Ecclesiastes 10:10).

P:  Thank You, Lord Jesus, for Your direction.  Help me to not become dull to hearing you speak in and through me.
